We invite applications for three PEAK Urban Researcher positions, funded by an RCUK GCRF ‘PEAK Urban’ grant based at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), University of Oxford. These are two 3-year fixed-term positions and one 2-year fixed-term position and are available from 1 April 2018 (there may be some flexibility in the start date for one of the positions, but no later than 1 June 2018).
Candidates who hold a relevant PhD, demonstrate sufficient relevant specialist knowledge, and have relevant experience are welcome to apply. You must have interesting ideas about how the research questions might be answered. You will have excellent communication skills, competence to work in at least one of the international research partner countries, and the ability to manage your own academic research and administrative activities, to provide guidance to junior members of the research group and occasionally teach.
We are looking for the person who can address one or more of the research themes: How cities predict, anticipate and provide for migration flows; experimental urban methodologies and new mobilities; contested migrant rights to the city; migrant strategies in new urban contexts; geographical scale differences and migration driven urban transformation; migrant urbanisms and the dynamics of technological change/disruptive innovation; and the possibilities of comparative urban research The proposed research should also make a contribution to the research priorities: (1) migrant rights and urban housing; (2) welfare externalities and urban migration; (3) gendered cities and migrant urbanisms.
